College of Technology - Job Opportunities


The College of Technology awards a number of lab assistanships to incoming and current graduate students 
each Fall and Spring semesters.  Only UH students will be considered for lab assistanships.  Prospective applicants 
must be be elegible to work in the United States and be in good academic standing making satisfactory 
progress toward their degree. Priority will be given to College of Technology students.

Available Positions for Spring and Fall 

The College of Technology is currently looking for graduate assistants, lab assistants, and teacher assistants 
for the Spring and Fall semesters.  For a list of laboratories, please go to Course Schedule for the semester
you wish to apply for and search the Computer Engineering TechnologyLabs, Electrical Power Technology Labs, 
or Mechanical Technology Labs.

How To Apply 

If you are interested in applying for lab assistantship position, you must apply by email to be considered.  Prior to
applying, the applicant must make sure he/she has all of the required documentation listed in the Checklist For 
Hiring Student Employees.  You may apply by emailing your resume to schacon@uh.edu (Computer Engineering Technology),

Deadlines for Accepting Applications

The deadline to apply for the Spring semester is the last Friday of November.  The dealine to apply for the Fall
semester is the last Friday of June.

Selection Process

1. Once the applicant has submitted his/her resume, it will be reviewed by the Lab Managers.  The
    applicant should not contact the College of Technology during the review process.
2. Lab Management will then request an in-person interview prior to the award of an assistanship.  The 
    prospective lab assistant must then show all the required documentation listed in the Checklist For Hiring
    Student Employees.
3. After the interview, the applicant will be notified by email of decisions concerning their application.
4. Once hired, the lab assistant is required to attend a mandatory Orientation session one week prior the
    the beginning of the semester.
