Certificate in Training Development & Delivery - 4.4 CEUs

September - November 2012

Face-to-Face Classes & Fridays from 9am-1pm at the University of Houston

*Virtual Group Meetings & Online Activities

The Trainer Certificate Program is a blended face-to-face and online course for professionals who are emerging and/or experienced trainers.

In this program you will learn:

  • strategic approaches to training design
  • developing interactive content
  • measuring learning outcomes
  • delivering a positive learning experience

The program is offered as a project-based workshop delivered in 4 modules (2½ days per module-8 total).

Additional online activities and virtual group meetings will be assigned (4 cumulative hrs every other week).

Course includes dynamic online functions and materials: discussions, chat, quizzes, flashcards, crossword puzzles, etc..

Any of these modules fulfills the 15hrs of the Train the Trainer requirements to obtain the "Registered Trainer Level" in the Texas Early Care and Education Career Development System (TEECEC).

Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP)

The ASTD Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) Campus Program prepares professionals to take ASTD's CPLP Certification Examination. The CPLP provides participants with a systematic approach to reviewing the knowledge, attitudes and skills needed for learning and performance professionals.

E-Learning Certificate Series
  • 4 learning modules (can be taken separately)
  • Articulate, Captivate, Web Conferencing (Adobe Connect), Learning Management Systems (Moodle)
  • Project-based instruction with some supporting materials provided
  • Saturdays 9am-4pm

Students will leave with a functional understanding of both general and ad-hoc methods for designing and launching courses.

Certificates of completion are awarded to those taking all 4 modules in one year.

Facilitation Certificate: Managing Group Processes

This course is organized in a "blended" format where parts of this class are completed online in between our face-to-face meetings. Participants will gain an understanding of current research and practice on facilitator roles, techniques and methods that can be used to support and guide small group processes.

  • Discuss current research and trends in small group and team facilitation.
  • Describe the role of human resource development professionals as group facilitators.
  • Explain facilitator competencies and issues that concern small group facilitation processes.
  • Plan and use facilitative techniques and methods appropriate for small group and team settings.
  • Reflect and assess individual and group effectiveness in facilitative settings.

Certificate in Strategic Foresight - 4.0 CEUs

The Strategic Foresight program is offered as a 5-day, project-based, face-to-face workshop. Participants learn to anticipate disruptive change and work towards the creation of transformational change, in order to influence the future of their organizations, companies and communities. Participants can obtain the Certificate if they complete a project within a given number of weeks after the program delivery.

Instructor: Dr. Peter Bishop. Dr. Bishop is associate tenured professor of Futures Studies at the University of Houston, College of Technology. Dr. Bishop is an international leader in Futures Studies.

Designing Organization Development Interventions - 2.4 CEUs

Apply behavioral science knowledge and practices to improve individual, group and organization effectiveness. Learn to identify, evaluate and design appropriate interventions to move an organization to a desired future state. Includes a selection of readings and discussions.

Organization Learning and Performance - 4.8 CEUs

Blended format (synchronous and asynchronous online content, with two Monday evening face-to-face meetings)

Define, identify and study the processes of organization development, discuss interventions, the application of behavioral science knowledge and practices used by practitioners, and explore the future of Organization development.
