Like most major universities, the University of Houston is comprised of several different colleges. These colleges are responsible for providing education and granting degrees in certain academic areas.
The College of Technology was one of the earliest colleges to be established within the University of Houston. We are responsible for teaching and granting degrees related to practical areas of technology and consumer science. The college's emphasis on practical technology and merchandising is combined with training in business and leadership skills. This practical emphasis helps to bring about a smooth transition from school to the everyday workplace for our students and makes their skills valuable in a very immediate way to the organizations that hire them. It is one of the reasons why two thirds of our students are employed in their field even before graduation, according to our 2003 student survey.
