Requirements for Acceptance

Requirements

  • US Citizenship or permanent residence
  • An application form and supporting documents
  • Minimum GPA of 2.75/4.0
  • Women and minorities are highly encouraged to apply
  • Application deadline is March 10, 2009

Application Overview

Each application should include transcripts, two letters of recommendation and a personal statement. The statement will describe the student’s background and career plans, the reasons for seeking the REU SITE program, and a list of the top three choices of projects for the summer internship. Participants will be selected from engineering, science and technology students who are in the sophomore to senior year of college. The required cumulative grade point average must be at least 2.75 on a 4.0 point scale. A concerted effort will be made to achieve an REU student composition of 70% minority and women and 30% non-minority students from institutions across the nation who will then have a unique opportunity to experience a very diverse student population at UH. Three students will be selected from UH and the other nine will be selected from elsewhere.
