In addition to the UH graduate certificate earned in this program, the student can choose to pursue formal Project Manager Certification through the Project Management Institute (PMI), or other equivalent groups. The UH course material is strongly aligned with the PMI view of project management.
Through involvement in the UH program participants will be well prepared to tackle the PMI certification process. More importantly, they will gain a working understanding of successful project management techniques and how to execute those in a real life project.
Although the certificate program focus is on technology related projects, the general management concepts discussed are derived from A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) sponsored by the Project Management Institute. In this regard the material is relevant to any project environment.
