TELS Students Hold Red Carpet Event

February 4, 2009

With the fall semester ending, Dr. David Ding's students in TELS 4341, Dr. Jami Kovach's students in TELS 4342, and Dr. Sharon O'Neil's students in TELS 3365 closed out their semester-long video projects by holding the 2008 Cougar Technology Red Carpet "Guild Awards" on Wednesday, December 10. These awards were the final result of a collaborative FDIP project led by Dr. David Ding.

Throughout the semester, students of TELS 4341 wrote, directed, acted in, and produced videos displaying supply chain and demand practices used in everyday life. A blue ribbon panel, made up of students from TELS 4342, evaluated the videos and made recommendations so that the videos were refined before the finished projects were shown.

Students involved in TELS 3365 planned and executed the end-of-semester Guild Awards event and also served as Cougar Screen Critics Guild Members. Members were responsible for evaluating the video projects created based on content, organization, production teamwork and mechanics, presentation, and marketability.

"The project was based on the learning all three classes did during the semester and will continue to do next semester," Dr. Sharon O'Neil said.

The Cougar Red Carpet Event displayed the finished videos and presented awards for Best Actors, Best Director, Best Technical Effects and Best Video.

Best Actors awards went to Error 404 Studios - "Core Competency," Best Director Award honored Supply Chain Houston - "Parking Bottleneck," Best Technical Effects was awarded to The Miracle Workers - "Bookstore Operations," and Best Video honors went to Team Gear - "Re-Engineering."
