A contract is an agreement between undeclared majors and the College of Technology which allows the undeclared student to take classes toward a technology major for one semester in order to raise their UH gpa to 2.0. If a contract student's cumulative UH GPA is 2.0 at the close of the contract semester then they may officially declare the technology major identified on the contract.
The College of Technology will only write contracts for students who have a reasonable chance of raising their UH GPA to 2.0 within one semester. Our expectation is that a contract student should be able to raise their cumulative UH GPA to 2.0 by completing a schedule of no more than 12 hours with a grade of "B".
Students will only be allowed one contract and if they do not attain the GPA required to declare their major by the close of the contract period then they will be referred to the Undergraduate Scholars division to select a different major.
Contracts are not written for prospective majors in Computer Information Systems.
The deadlines for seeking a contract with the College of Technology are:
Fall semester – August 1
Spring semester - December 1
Students must schedule an appointment with an undergraduate advisor to be evaluated for a College of Technology contract. Appointments may be scheduled by calling 713-743-4100.
