Scholarship support is critical in attracting the best and brightest students to the College of Technology and its programs. A particular area of need is for transfer scholarships, which assist in leveling the cost for students transferring from community and junior colleges. Often, the opportunity to receive a scholarship is the deciding factor for an incoming freshman or transfer student in selecting the University of Houston over another institution. Opportunities exist to gift general COT scholarships, scholarships within a particular program, or establish a named scholarship though an endowment. Academic quality is a key metric in ensuring the College of Technology is competitive with similar programs at other universities across the nation. In addition to funding current programs and courses in areas such as Construction Management, Biotechnology or Logistics and Supply Chain, faculty support is also needed in emerging areas, such as courses in Petroleum Technology. Contributions ensure recruitment and retention of top-notch faculty to offer the latest education and skills to students.
Both financial and in-kind contributions of equipment assist students throughout the College of Technology and ensure they are trained on the tools of the trade in their respective programs. Additional support is needed in the area of renovations to enhance facilities provided in the college’s buildings, one of which was the third building constructed on campus.
