Our History, Mission and Makeup

The goal of the College of Technology is to provide the highest quality education for students in practical fields of technology and consumer science. We have been pursuing this mission since the early 1940s, when the building for the new school of technology became the third permanent building on the University of Houston campus.

We offer numerous fully accredited undergraduate degrees in areas of practical technology as well as fully accredited masters degrees in some highly select and competitive areas. These degrees are offered through our three departments (Engineering Technology, Human Development and Consumer Sciences, Information and Logistics Technology) within the College of Technology.

We have a very ethnically diverse student body of over 2,000 students, reflecting the ethnically diverse nature of the University of Houston itself, which is ranked among the most ethnically diverse universities in the United States.
