Scholarships for College of Technology Students

The College of Technology awards scholarships to students each academic year. The application for scholarships to be awarded for the Fall 2008 - Spring 2009 school year is currently available with a deadline of April 14, 2008. All scholarships:

  1. Are for College of Technology students (see criteria in table below).
  2. Require a COT Application
  3. The Halliburton Petroleum Technology Scholarship requires a separate application with a deadline of Friday, February 29, 2008.
    Please fill out Halliburton Application.

The deadline for the 2008-2009 academic year is April 14, 2008. Applications must be received via e-mail submission or in the Academic Services Center, room 108 T1 by 5:00 pm on Monday, April 14, 2008.

Applications received after the deadline date will be reviewed and awarded only if funds are available.

Halliburton Petroleum Scholarship

Available to students who have taken coursework in petroleum technology. Requires a separate application ( click here).

Anthis Callicut-Gore Endowed Scholarship in Home Economics

Major in Consumer Sciences and Merchandising. Selected on the basis of need and scholastic standing.

Cris Castaneda Scholarship

American citizen, Construction Management major, full-time undergraduate or graduate student.

Logistical Advantage Scholarship

Supply chain and logistics technology major with a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

R.P. Doss/Houston Contractors Association

Junior or senior full-time student. Construction Management major from the greater Houston metro area; financial need; upper half of college.

William R. "Doc" Forkner Memorial

Interested in teaching Industrial Technology; exhibits leadership qualities; enrolled in Technology Leadership and Supervision.

Mathew P. and Leslie Watford Verghese Endowed Scholarship

Leadership, full-time undergraduate or graduate student.

Ted R. Akin Endowed Scholarship

Leadership, full-time undergraduate or graduate student.

Gulf Coast Surveyors Scholarship

Interested in pursuing a career in surveying.

James & Shirley Lofstrom Scholarship

Junior Supply Chain and Logistics Technology major with at least a 3.0 GPA.

Charlie Nicholson Memorial

Construction Management major and SCRI member.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Mullineaux Scholarship

Incoming freshman or second year student with a financial need.

Paul Frison Scholarship

IST/ISTE major with a 3.0 GPA or higher.

Paul G. Smith, Jr. Scholarship Endowment

Leadership and financial need; full-time undergraduate or graduate student.

Petroleum Club Scholarship

Available to students who have taken coursework in petroleum technology.

College of Technology Alumni Association

Students must be full-time (enrolled in at least 12 semester hours). Download the application

MUST Program

The MUST Program supports the best and the brightest students in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) disciplines during the early years of their college education while enriching their learning with the MUST Professional Academic Support System (MUST PASS), an academic enrichment, mentoring and career development system. Scholars participate in exciting research opportunities at NASA Centers that will help broaden their career horizons. Students from underrepresented groups in STEM are encouraged to apply.

NASA Aeronautics Scholarship Program

The NASA Aeronautics Scholarship Program is now being administered by the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). Up to $40,000 for undergraduates $125,000 for graduates in aeronautical engineering and related fields will be awarded. Completed applications will be collected electronically from February 22nd through March 17th, 2008. The Association of Women in Computing

The Association of Women in Computing – Houston Chapter is offering the Kathi Bowles Scholarship for Women in Computing.

The deadline date for applications is February 28, 2008

Central Endowment Scholarships

Central Endowment Scholarships are available to all students who meet the particular requirements of the various university donors who have provided these funds.

Application deadline is February 22, 2008.

PFLAG/HATCH Youth Scholarship Foundation

The PFLAG/HATCH Youth Scholarship Foundation offers a scholarship program to assist worthy gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered youth in the Houston area in pursuing a college education.

The deadline is April 30, 2008. Please visit http://www.physf.org/ for more information.

UH Women's Association Scholarship

Children or grandchildren of full-time current and retired employees of any UH System university are eligible for the $1,000 Hoffman student scholarship. Applicants must be or will be full-time students in good academic standing for fall 2008 and attending or planning to attend UH. A previous scholarship winner may not reapply for the scholarship.

Female faculty or staff members, wives, daughters or granddaughters of current or retired faculty or staff members or retired female employees are eligible to apply for the $1,000 Ella Margaret Hawes Women in Transition Scholarship, another of the Hoffman scholarships. Applicants must be enrolled in a university degree program.

Applications for both scholarships are available in the M.D. Anderson Library's administration office, Room 220, or by calling Evelyn Brass at 713-743-9686. Applications must be postmarked on or before April 20.
